What strikes you most about the students at Hillbrook?
I truly admire the Hillbrook Core Values of Be Kind, Be Curious, Take Risks, and Be Your Best. I always feel that whenever there is a problem or a friend in need someone is always around to jump in and help their fellow companions out.

When you think about the students at Hillbrook, what’s the one thing that stands out to you?
I always enjoy walking throughout the campus and being greeted by all my Hillbrook friends, welcoming and brightening up my day. It reminds me of how close this community is to being a part of my family.

What is your favorite activity to do with students?
I have a great time during the extended care study hall time. This is where I’m able to help fellow students with their homework or projects, either giving them a path to guide them in the right direction or even giving them the boost of reassurance and confidence that they know what they are doing.

What made you choose to teach at Hillbrook?
I remember when I was younger I toured the school and had a super fun time exploring the vast campus with my buddy. My buddy was friendly and considerate, integrating me within his friends during my visit and making me feel a part of the school community. I also remember my sister Mia – who is currently in 8th grade – always coming home to talk about all the cool and fun different activities that she was experiencing at school. That made me want to give back to help out wherever I could and add a little piece of myself to this family-like community at Hillbrook.

What are you most looking forward to at Hillbrook in the next few months?
I’m looking forward to the new adventures to come as we transition and adapt our approach to connecting with our students during this time of social distancing. I have loved seeing the new and innovative ways we are making to our curriculum “reach beyond” while we are away from campus.

What is the last place you visited?
The last place I visited was when I went with my family to Tahoe to relax from our everyday life away from the technology to which we are so accustomed. During that time I went on a bike ride into the forest for quite some time until I reached a clearing that led me to a beautiful lake that was overlooked by great snowy mountains; it was a stunning view. We hope you enjoyed learning more about Mr. Nick.
